Rachel Rae c. Ian Bell You came to me when I was young on the melody of a fiddle song Your name came trippin’ off my tongue, whenever we met to play along Rachel Rae, Davie Taylor, Miss Macleod’s, John MacNeill You must have cut a fancy figure, someone made you a damn fine reel CHORUS: And we never met, but I know your name I call it out across the floor Whenever we meet to scrape the strings And turn the old tunes loose once more Was it for your kisses sweet, was it for your wit and fun A noble heart, a dancer’s leap, your curlin’ hair or you wicked tongue Did you smash the windows with a blackthorn stick, on the trip to the cottage by the dusty mill At the meetin’ of the waters near the Glencoe Bridge, on the boggy road to Mllageville And when the tunes are all played out, at least by us, at least for now Will some we made for friends and times, still wander down the road somehow Who will wonder at Carl and Kate, Jim Fisher the caller or Emily Will a faded page from a dusty book sing a song that someone made for me?

Riley Boys 03:53
It was lovely in the spring, all the flowers were in bloom and we met beside the shore for a moment there were birds and there were planes flying patterns all around and we shared a single song for a moment If the Riley Boys were here they would tell us all is well Not to cry and not to worry for tomorrow If the Riley Boys were here this would be a joyous tear Instead of one for mercy and for sorrow If it's quiet on the street it is not for want of feet That would march if they could only find a way If the halo round the light in this quiet street tonight Were the hearts that wander by it would be crying If the Riley Boys were here they would surely take our hands And remind us that on earth our days are fleeting If the Riley Boys were here and their gentle voices near They'd remind us all that someday we'll be meeting It's so hard to read the news and so beautiful outside And the world that seemed so wide now seems so broken All the things we love and keep in our dreams and in our sleep Startled birds that we have suddenly awoken If the Riley Boys they would tell us not to cry Dry your eyes they'd say there's work to do tomorrow If the Riley Boys were here we'd hold fast another year And be thankful for what mercy we could borrow

Here Where Old Friends Meet c. Anne Lederman Here where old friends meet Drummers cease their restless beat Slow we down, down, our yearning feet Here a sacred place Lines etched in our face since last we did embrace Our laughs erase them all Yes, there’s bitter with the sweet Slights from not so long ago bring hidden tears and salty words do flow Please wash them all away, to the Gods we pray For who can ever know what secret hurts we stow And the years do take their toll While the distant thunder rolls Friendship is the hearth to warm the soul Here we’ll drink our fill Gaze both back and forwards till the anxious hands of time They do stand still Yes, there’s bitter with the sweet But all those things I thought you might have said or meant It’s time to let them go Please wash them all away, to the Gods we pray Please soothe our aching souls and wash them all away Yes, to the Gods we pray, please blow these clouds away And cleanse our weary souls to greet a brand new day

about

Eh?! started off as a trio of fiddlers with too many strings on their instruments. We messed with old tunes and we composed new ones. As it evolved, we ended up with a pageant of textures and sounds encircling the scraping of bow on string-voices, piano, accordion, bass, guitars with four strings and six, mandolins large and small, bones, feet, shakers of all sizes, udu, tambourines, bodhran, bymbals, riqq, triangle, dumbek and kalimba. We hope both our ancestors and our descendants understand.
